For active drug users and those in recovery, living in the past is a harmful and dangerous place to be. Playback of those memories of hurt and shame can send one quickly into a whirlwind of destruction. For the drug user, those thoughts tend to keep you going back to your drug of choice chaining you with the lie that there is no way out. For those clean and sober, reliving past memories might keep us from going back because we see the chaos that our using costs’, however, living in the past will keep us stifled from moving forward. Living in the present will bring us peace. We are able to see what is happening around us; recognizing what we are doing, how we are feeling and thinking. Living in the present, not in fake reality of drug abuse, we have a way to deal with what is taking place in that moment, not colored by past experiences of fear, anger and failure. The present is very quick, so take the time to enjoy it because the present becomes the past in an instant. Take time to notice what is going on right now. Your life and the lives of those around you will only be better for it. Finding your place in the present can be achieved. Addiction treatment will allow time for you or your loved one to discover life here and now.
