As I sit to write, I can not help but reflect on my journey of recovery and life. One definition of reflection is “a return of light”. Drug abuse becomes drug addiction, which in turn, begins to extinguish from us the light of conscientiousness. The addicted becomes blinded from seeing life and its beauty and instead becomes bound by the darkness of addiction and its lies. The more that we are in active addiction, the dimmer the light becomes leading to a life of suffering, pain and misery that the addict was not intended to live. Drugs and alcohol abuse quickly becomes addiction. The addicted becomes trapped in lies that whisper deceptions; you are no longer worthy to be who and what you were created for, drugs and alcohol are the only way to happiness, I (drugs and alcohol) will never leave you, I am your best friend. Sinking further into the quicksand of lies and deception of drugs and alcohol, the light of life becomes increasingly unrecognizable leading to the conception that all hope is lost. But there is a “return of light” in hope and that light is burning brightly. The addiction has tried and will continue to try to extinguish the light of hope in us all. You do not have to allow addiction to steal from you or your loved one any longer. There is a bright light of hope that shines in recovery and the light is waiting to burn brighter that ever in you. However you or your loved one is the only one who can ignite the light again. We are here to help you in your reflection, your “return of light”. The next step is to pick up the phone or complete the form linked on the “Get Help” page of this site and begin the journey of recovery a “return of light”.
