Named after K2 the mountain, which is the second highest summit in the world, their is a danger to society K2-synthetic marijuana. This herbal incense is now being catorized an illegal substance in 8 states. Illegal or not, K2 is extremely dangerous. The ingredients listed on the package are herbs, what is not listed is the synthetic compounds JWH-018 and JWH-073 wherein lies the danger.

JWH-018 and JWH-073 compounds give K2 its mind altering affects and are the synthetic cannabinoids which mimics the effects of marijuana. Users of marijuana like the high that K2 gives without the danger of prosecution from drug use. Although using K2 is dangerous, many marijuana users who have to deal with probation or parole will take the chance in using K2 because it does not show positive for drug use in urine testing.

Jeremy Morris, a senior forensic scientist in Johnson County, Kansas, states that the JWH compounds “multiply the negative effects of marijuana 3 to 5 times”. The symptoms include racing heart, high blood pressure and anxiety. K2 is not a drug to fool with. Some users state that they feel as if their heart is about to explode after smoking K2, while others who smoke K2 may not have any side effects from its use. This also proposes a danger in that people will take the chance because they want feel that high. This is what addiction is, the constant running after a high that can not be obtained yet is still being chased.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency is looking into adding K2, also known as “Spice” or “Spice Gold”, to the schedule of controlled substances. However, it is difficult to do so without exact knowledge of the dangers the drug exhibits. In 2008, scientific studies in Germany found JWH compounds unsafe and the country quickly moved to make K2 illegal. This evidence gives the DEA a good basis for putting the compounds on the schedule of controlled substances list on an emergency basis.

Emergency rooms in several states are seeing the effects of K2 with many users being having to be admitted with the symptoms of K2 use. Poision control centers throughout the country are also seeing a huge increase in calls from parents who are concerned with the K2 side effects after finding their children having seizure like symptoms after smoking K2.

This is not a fad and is not going away. Parents and teachers should make themselves aware of K2 and its dangers. Because of its low cost and availability, and the negative testing in urine, K2′s popularity is rising and and only getting bigger.

Playing Russian Roulette With K2

K2, also know as Spice, is spreading like wildfire throughout the United States and sending many of its users to hospital emergency rooms. Recently, CBS news reported that 6 states have put into law the illegal distribution and use of K2-synthetic marijuana; Alabama, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana and Missouri. Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey and New York are now considering bans.

K2 is very easy to get. One can order K2 off the internet and through magazines. K2 seems harmful enough because it is marketed as incense or bath salts and packaged in brightly colored bags. But those who are using the synthetic drug are playing russian roulette with their lives. Dr. Gaylor Lopez is the director of the Georgia Poison Control Center in Atlanta, states, “we started seeing a mushrooming of calls”, only 12 calls came into the Poison Control Center in 2009, the center has already received over 500 calls nationwide, which is “incredibly dangerous” Lopez says.

K2 is 15 times more potent that marijuana and can have disturbing side effects like seizures and tremor activity. One user states that he had used the drug more than 50 times until he wound up in the hospital and then found himself going to addiction treatment in New York. Everytime one uses K2 they are gambling with their lives. The Drug Enforcement Administration in Washington, D.C., is looking into whether they should put K2-spice should be a controlled substance and make illegal in all 50 states.

Are you or someone you know suffering from addiction? Many are finding help through drug rehabs all across the country and recogonizing that just because a drug is considered legal by most states, such as K2, it can be harmful and even deadl. Referral specialist are available to speak with you or your loved one and help you in your search for effective treatment through drug rehab and education. Your life or the life of your loved one is too valuable to play Russian Roulette with mind controlling substances. Get your life back by calling 1.800.863.9166, or visiting the Get Help page of this site and find your way to freedom out of the cycle of addiction. Our services are always confidential.

Opiate Addiction

What are opiates? Opiates come from the natural plant opium and processed from the latex sap of the opium poppy. The drug was introduced as a pain reliever, sedative or as one definition describes opium, “anything that causes dullness or inaction or that soothes the feelings.” The drug and its derivitatives are used to dull or deaden feelings to pain and is commonly used in hospitals around the world.

Addiction to prescription medications, which are mostly classified as opiates, is the fastest rising drug epidemic in the U.S. Because prescription meds are easy to obtain; pain management facilites, internet, emergency rooms, over 30 million people are now addicted and need the services of drug addiction treatment facilites. In today’s society, pressure from the economy, home, schools and work is creating an open door for many people of all ages to try and relieve the stress through prescription mediciation. Taking drugs such as Oxycontin, Valium, Xanyx is a way to deaden or numb the pain that one is feelilng. Unfortunately, addiction to these drugs is quick and causes the one addicted to loose jobs, families and friends, which in turn destroys communities and societies.

Here is a list of the most commonly used opiates:

Heroin

Morphine

OxyContin

Valium

Methadone

Codeine

Percocet

Darvocet

Vicodin

Plus, many other types of opiates.

Addiction is not subjected to the homeless and the down and out or the club goer, no one is exempt from the destruction of opiate addiction. Just recently in Knoxville, Tennessee, a nurse was fired and lost her privilege to practice because of her addiction. The cycle of addiction will destroy even the strongest of people. Doctors, lawyers, judges, law enforcement are vicitms too of the prescription medication epidemic.

If you or someone you know is suffering from addiction, drug rehab facilities will help bring about education and rehabilitation from opiate addiction. The cycle can be broken but it takes the individual recogonizing their addiction and wanting to recieve help to break free.

Call today or visit the Get Help page, and recieve a confidential assessment and referral to an effective drug addiction treatment center. Referral specialists will help guide you to a new life free from the abusive cycle of opiate addiction.

Sonny Perdue, Governor of Georgia, signed into law banning the marijuana substitute, K2. This new law bans the use and distribution of synthethic marijuana, in the state of Georgia. The law, H.B. 1309, places K2 on the schedule I controlled substance list along with Heroin and above Coaine, Ritalin and Opium which are schedule II substances. Created in the 1990s by a Clemson University organic chemist John W. Huffman, K2 mimicked the effects of cannabis on the brain.

“Side effects of the drug include rapid heart rate, very high blood pressure, hallucinations, seizures, vomiting and paranoia. K2 attacks cardiovascular and central nervous systems. It is used mostly by young people who are hoping for a marijuana-like high.”

Governor Perdue states that adding it to the schedule I list will help protect the health and safety of all Georgian’s. Atlanta reported that at least 12 cases of K2 hospitalizations for poisioning with serious health problems from the marijuana substitute. Several other states have followed suit by passing laws banning the use and distribution of K2, according to USA Today. Those states are Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri.

If you or someone you know is suffering from substance abuse, addiction treatment will provide education and tools to help in overcoming and breaking the cycle of addiction. Referral specialists will help guide you to effective treatment services and provide options for the drug addict in your life.

... pain management facilities operate a legal means in feeding the nations addiction to prescription medication.

Deadly Script

Prescription pills has become the most commonly used drug in America. With the easy access to pills such as; OxyContin, Valium, Xanyx, Hydrocodone and Vicodine, obtained through avenues like the internet and pain management facilites, accompanied with the manipulative tactics of abuse, as evident in multiple emergency room visits and using several doctors in order to get scripts, it is easy to see how so many Americans are now addicted to pills.

In Broward County, Florida, pain management facilities operate a legal means in feeding the nations addiction to prescription medication. Citizens of our country are driving daily to South Florida to purchase, legally, prescription pills especially oxycontin and profiting mightily in the process. Addicts and dealers alike are feeding their addictions through this toxic means of legalized and deadly drug distribution.

OxyContin is used by addicts through various ways of getting high. The most popular way of using the drug is intravenously; shooting the drug into their veins. Some addicts smoke the pill by placing it on a piece of aluminum foil, melting it and smoking it through a straw. The dealers of OxyContin are just as addicted because of the amount of money that is made by selling the drug. The dealer purchases the script for $500 and because the street value is so high, they can make upwards to $5000. The cycle of addiction is dangerous and at some point the addict has to make a decision, either to get help through addiction treatment, face incarceration or death.

If you or someone you know is suffering with an addiction to prescription medication, help is available. Our referral specialists will help guide you to a drug rehab that will provide the addict and their family and help them gain a new life through effective drug education and rehabilitation.

There is a powerful force at work today against the citizens of Tennessee and Georgia that force is addiction. Addiction is defined as a strong tolerance to and dependence on something especially with drugs or alcohol. Thousands of residents in rural and urban settings throughout Tennessee and Georgia are dealing with a great dependence on the illegal drug of methamphetamine.

Meth has become, in many areas, the drug of choice for working moms and dads who live busy hectic lifestyles, enabling the user to remain highly aware and active. Adolescents are also finding meth appealing especially with teen age girls and women who want to use the drug as a method of weight loss. Unfortunately, the first time meth is either snorted, smoked or injected, the user is hooked. Addiction treatment centers throughout the state of Tennessee and Georgia report that the majority of their clients are seeking help because of their addiction to methamphetamine. The most effective drug rehabs are those that offer cognitive-behavioral interventions or the holistic approach to treatment.

One of the main reasons for such a high use of methamphetamine in Tennessee and Georgia is the close proximity to the Mexican border and the I-75 corridor than runs from Florida into the Midwestern parts of the country. This corridor through Georgia and Tennessee has become the main thoroughfare for drug trafficking, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.

“Much of the methamphetamine consumed in the state is transported from Mexico and the southwest border states. Clandestine methamphetamine labs can be found everywhere in Tennessee, but are predominantly located in the Appalachian areas in Eastern Tennessee.

Mexican methamphetamine trafficking groups control much of the methamphetamine distribution in the Chattanooga area, but command and control for these Mexican organizations are frequently found in Dalton, Georgia. An increase in methamphetamine use and abuse is anticipated in Tennessee as the drug gains popularity over crack cocaine use. This trend is attributed to the highly addictive nature of methamphetamine, particularly Ice.”

Both Tennessee and Georgia have increased their fight against the use and distribution of methamphetamine with television and radio public service announcements. These 30 second PSA’s describe the effect the drug has on the individual, family, community and nation and can be found at; methfreetn.org and georgiamethproject.org. However, methamphetamine is not the trouble source in Tennessee and Georgia. Drugs such as, cocaine, crack, heroin, oxycontin and marijuana are crippling thousands of communities and their citizens.

If you or someone you know is suffering with an addiction to methamphetamine or any substance that is disabling the freedom to live a productive life, addiction treatment will provide the tools and education to help put one on the road to recovery and enable them to be successful in sobriety.

Our referral specialists will help guide you or your loved one to the drug rehab that is best suited to meet your needs. Make the call today to become drug free.

Marijuana is the most commonly used drug in America. The fight to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes has and will continue to be an issue in many state senates. In April of 2010, the Maryland Senate voted for the legalization of medical marijuana. For many the pros for the decriminalization of marijuana makes sense in that the cost for marijuana laws are expensive and alcohol and cigarettes, according to medical research, is much more harmful and addictive. Marijuana use is harmful to the body is many ways. Smoking marijuana damages brain cells, destroys lung tissue, causes increased appetite, and paranoia among its users.

“Carcinogenic, or cancercausing, materials found in tobacco also are in marijuana, and smoking one marijuana cigarette can deposit three to four times as much tar in the respiratory tract as a single filtered tobacco cigarette, according to research from Dr. Donald Tashkin, a pulmonologist at the University of California at Los Angeles who has studied marijuana effects for 30 years.”

“As with tobacco cigarettes, smoking marijuana habitually has been shown to reduce respiratory function and harm the lining of the lungs, according to the institute report. Smoking marijuana regularly increases the risk of bronchitis and respiratory infection.”

The debate about the legalization of marijuana for medicinal purposes will continue to be a hot topic among advocates for and against its use. There is one condition that will not be changed and that is any drug that does harm to the body and affects one to the point that the drug addiction is destroying ones life addiction treatment then becomes a necessity.

Many people express their opinions on Mary Jane saying that "its an herb, coming from the Earth".

Marijuana Abuse

Mary Jane, a slang name used to describe marijuana. This term is used frequently in songs, for example these lyrics by Rick James:

“ I’m in love with Mary Jane.
She’s my main thing.
She makes me feel alright.
She makes my heart sing”.

Many people express their opinions on Mary Jane saying that “its an herb, coming from the Earth”. Yes, this is true and the components of this herb have many good qualities that contribute to society. Hemp, for instance, a derivative of the Cannabis plant, has many environmental uses. Hemp can be used for many things,” including being woven into jewelry, sails, paper, clothing, rope, and more. A potential substitute for fossil fuels that is renewable. Is grown quickly and takes few chemicals to grow or turn into paper, so it is a far better source for paper than trees. Also, the seeds contain more protein than any other natural non-meat food. ”

What many users of marijuana tend to overlook is the effect that its use has on the individual as a whole. Marijuana can lead to addiction and has effects on family, work, school and social functioning. Users who decide to quit smoking “Mary Jane”, tend to have side effects of irritability, sleeplessness, anxiety and drug cravings. For those who are withdrawing from marijuana during their initial entrance into drug rehab often battle with these symptoms of behavioral and emotional distress. ” Symptoms of marijuana withdrawal first appear in serious habitual users within the first 8 hours and are the most noticeable during the first 10 days, but withdrawal symptoms may last as long as 45 days The withdrawal from marijuana is identifiable by behavioral and emotional distress.”

One popular means of achieving the same high of marijuana, especially for those who are on probation or parole, is smoking K2, synthetic cannibas. Many states are now, through legislation, trying to ban the use of K2 because of the danger it imposes. K2 has been known to contribute to many being hospitilized due to the chemicals that are being added. This marijuana substitute is another example of the extreme measures one will go to get high and escape.

Addiction treatment will help you or your loved one begin to cope with life on life’s terms instead of trying to escape through substance abuse. The education one will recieve when going to drug rehab gives the marijuana user new life skills that enable one to cope with the up’s and down’s that life is. Everyone has different ways of coping, but for the drug abuser it’s trying to fill that void with a substance that only discourages personal and spiritual growth and destroys the potential of living a successful life and being a productive member of society.

Discourage anyone from abusing harmful drugs. Educate oneself on the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol and start ta new life through the powerful resources that are available through addiction treatment.

If you or someone you know is suffering from addiction, drug rehab is available to secure free from drugs and alcohol.
