K2, also know as Spice, is spreading like wildfire throughout the United States and sending many of its users to hospital emergency rooms.  Recently, CBS news reported that 6 states have put into law the illegal distribution and use of K2-synthetic marijuana;  Alabama, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana and Missouri. K2 is 15 times more potent that marijuana and can have disturbing side effects like seizures and tremor activity.  One user states that he had used the drug more than 50 times until he wound up in the hospital and then found himself going to addiction treatment in New York.  Everytime one uses K2 they are gambling with their lives.  The Drug Enforcement Administration in Washington, D.C., is looking into whether they should put K2-spice should be a controlled substance and make illegal in all 50 states.

Seized Illegal Narcotics

According to CNN.com, California authorities siezed $45 million dollars worth of illegal drugs found in a tractor trailer.  The San Bernardino sheriffs office reports that during the investigation of the traffic violation, they noticed a “overwhelming odor”  coming from the pallets in the back of the truck.  Upon futher investigation the sheriffs officials discovered ”about 20 tons of narcotics stashed in pallets in the back of the truck, including about 38,000 pounds of marijuana, 2,700 pounds of cocaine and 67 pounds of methamphetamine, the sheriff’s office said in a statement,”  which resulted in was one of the largest narcotics bust in the counties history.

Mexican Drug Cartel Soldiers

According to FoxNews.com, the Mexican Drug Cartel, The Los Zetas, tried to blow up Falcon Dam along the Rio Grande last month.  This twarted attempt was not directly aimed at the American people but toward their rivals in the drug smuggling game the Gulf Cartel which controls drug smuggling efforts from the Falcon Dam to the Gulf of Mexico.  However, had the attempt been successful more than 4 million Americans would have been affected along with thousands of acres of agricultural land.

The seriousness in gaining  the control of our nations borders could not be more evident than  this attempted terror plot.  I say terror plot because, more than ever, we must look at the drug cartel as terrorist against our nation in that they are bringing illegal drugs and weapons into our country killing and destroying lives.  Billions of dollars are being spent  by the drug cartels in order to building underground tunnels  to get their drugs and people into the United States. 

“It certainly has the potential to be a serious security risk,” McClintock said. “The plot by the Zeta drug cartel to blow up the Falcon Dam appeared to be quite credible. And as we have found over the years, before there is a successful attack, it is preceded by several unsuccessful attempts that clearly indicate intent. It would be utterly foolish to ignore.”  Rep.
